Location for STEAM Academy Being Surveyed

We’re excited here at Kloiber Foundation to hear that a new location for the STEAM Academy has been approved for survey.   The original plan was to buy a former grocery store close to UK to build the new school, but that didn’t work out.  Fortunately UK may be able to provide a new site adjacent to the College of Education.

In the fall of 2013 Kloiber Foundation donated to several programs in the Fayette County Public School system, including the Carter G. Woodson Academy, the Learning Center at Linlee, Opportunity Middle College, and STEAM Academy.  UK’s involvement with the program adds depth and a myriad of opportunities to STEAM, beyond the project based learning and focus on science, technology, engineering, art, and math that coincide so well with our goals in Fayette county.  While  the former elementary school they are in now serves the purpose, a custom designed building right on the UK campus will allow this program to really blossom.  Also one of their main focuses is engineering and the students will be involved in the design and planning.  Talk about project based learning!  We can’t wait to see how this program develops.
