Kentucky’s standings in Education Weeks “Quality Counts” report
An article by the Hearald-Leader on Jan. 9, 2014, it was reported that Kentucky had neither improved or declined notably from 2013. Our overall grade had in fact not changed. Our “Chance for Success” ranking did improve, which bodes well. The article goes on to mention an area of improvement and one of decline. The most notable section is the last paragraph detailing the states lowest score, in spending.
The numbers on Kentucky’s per student spending compared to the national average are still appalling. Again the need for organizations like Kloiber Foundation and others to step in and do what we can to give our students a chance in the national, let alone international marketplace is emphasized.
